Ecuadorian Culture



Ecuadorian Culture is formed 12 years ago, began with primitive community, there is traces of man in Otavalo, during the Spanish conquest, it was completed Ecuadorian race form, with mixed Spanish and indigenous cultures.

In Ecuador there is a mix of ancient traditions and religion blends, as the case of the Inti Raymi festival, which is celebrated in solstice, a festival to thank mother earth for the harvest, which then it was named San Pedro and San Juan, Ecuador has also the formation of cultures of African descent who arrived in colonial times, as slaves, settle on the banks of the Rio CHOTA and in the Province of Esmeraldas.

In Ecuador there is a mixture of Amerindian and Catholic beliefs, we celebrate carnivals using variety of forms such us dances, mask carnivals, our alimentation is based on the products we seed, for example highland has a diet based on carbohydrates and granges, meanwhile on coastal region, we can find fish, plantains rice, and tropical fruits, the same in the amazon region.
Though most features of Ecuadorian Spanish are those universal to the Spanish-speaking world, there are several idiosyncrasies. Most Ecuadorians speak Spanish, though many speak Amerindian languages such as Kichwa, and other indigenous languages spoken in in cultures as Siano Secoya, Shuar, Achuar, Cofan, Waorani, etc.
Literature in Ecuador keeps the tradition of mix the constant changes in the society, for example we can find the richness of culture of Jose Joaquin de Olmedo, but also we can find the rebel and angriness of Juan Montalvo, the same  with writers as José de la Cuadra and Migel Riofrío, who write about indigenous injustice 

Ecuadoran music has long variety of rithms , pasillo is a genre which comes from the indigenous San Juantito, but it is possible to find different kinds of traditional music like albazo, pasacalle, fox incaico, tonada, capishca, Bomba highly established in afro-Ecuadorian society like Esmeraldas, and so on. Tecnocumbia and Rockola are clear examples of foreign cultures influence. One of the most traditional forms of dancing in Ecuador is Sanjuanito.
